Hello!

I have windows 10 64-bit, and have gotten some infestation of SEARCHING.COM adware lately. I came across this tool which scanned all the malicious objects in my system including the registry keys and scheduled programs.

However when I click the "Clean" button, my PC crashes (with a blue screen saying CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED). I tried to check the Debug Log, but there are no entries for Clean operation, neither can I find any explicit Cleaning-related logs - I can see all the Scan logs in place.

Can someone please suggest a solution / workaround for this? I tried to remove the adware using some other tool and it worked fine, but the Adwcleaner still shows some malicious content and I can't seem to remove it.

Highly appreciate your kind help!!

Akshay.

Re: AdwCleaner 6.000 keeps crashing the PC on clicking Clean button

Greetings,

There is a quick solution but I'll need some more information.

Can you share us the whole Debug log file? You can use Up2Sha.re if you want, or just copy its content on your next answer.

Thanks!

Regards.

Re: AdwCleaner 6.000 keeps crashing the PC on clicking Clean button

Hello,

Can you provide us the whole list of running processes ?

In powershell (you can launch it with the Start Menu), enter the following command and copy/paste the content in your next answer :

Get-Process

 Best regards,

Hi There!

Apologies I was not able to check this thread past few days. Refer below URL for the process list as mentioned.

https://up2sha.re/file?f=kORetcCWxRDi

BTW, I guess the adware is still present in my system, because it is not allowing the AV firewall protection to turn on, also I'm not able to stream anything on Chromecast because of some "firewall issue", which I'm suspecting is because of this adware. Appreciate if you could fix the bug asap.

Kindly keep me posted on the progress of this. Thanks!

Re: AdwCleaner 6.000 keeps crashing the PC on clicking Clean button

Hello,

May you try a check with MBAM first ?

  • Download MalwareBytes Anti Malware here.
  • Launch MalwareByte's Anti Malware from your desktop
  • Click on the tab Settings -> Detection & Protection -> PUP/PUM and check "Treat these detections like malware".
  • Tab Exam choose Threats, click on Scan now, and click on Launch the exam.
  • If something is detected, choose to Quarantine everything. If it asks you to reboot the computer, do it.
  • After the reboot (or at the end of the exam), launch Malwarebytes -> click on History -> Application logs -> Select the last exam log -> Show.
  • Click on Export -> text file (*.txt) -> Choose the desktop as destination, name the file "report-mbam" for example, and click on Save.
  • Paste the logfile in your next answer.

Thanks,

Happens to me also. Bugcheck contains generic error. Used Last version, no issues. FYI

@fr33tux:

Here you go. MWBAM did quarantine quite a lot of stuff. Morevoer I can still see about 16 odd threats in AdwCleaner.

@Secret_One:

Where can I get the Last Version? Can't seem to find it on any reliable sites.
