Re: PUP \SysNative\drivers\mrxsmb22.sys

dans AdwCleaner par Honest1

SysNative, means System32.

I found it here:

C>Windows>System32>drivers

Name                     Size

mrxsmb.22.sys       57 KB

And

C\AdwCleaner\Quarantine\

I then tracked it thru Manic Time to the exact time in seconds and found what happened at that time as confirmed adw, installer wnd.

What this was is a fake Cedrick Collomb Portable. Unlocker is only an Install.

Re: Major difficulties with AdwCleaner v. 7.0.3.1

dans AdwCleaner par notnats

This is the only log available that says clean. This was done when he removed ALL check marks from all items found. Otherwise, when he removed check marks only from the registiry section the program did not go through with clean it just shut down. .

Hello,

This time he hit clean and the program closed, the computer shut down but when it rebooted it had not cleaned anything.

Re: False Positives V7

dans AdwCleaner par notnats

Since V7 I've been getting false positives on all my machines - often ones reported by others.  I suspect they are down to using SypwareBlaster.  This is an old but quite safe program which puts kill bits in the registry to prevent undesireable stuff running.  I think it would be worth installing SpywareBlaster then "enabling all protection", then see what ADWCleaner makes of it.  Thanks.

Re: Win10PESE startup

The only way you can boot from the disk itself is through PXE and network booting (Advanced Windows Server things :) ). Any other way is impossible. Ah yes, good point covering RAM totally went out of my head. In general, this seems more like some specific hardware issue than anything else.

Re: Win10PESE startup

Hello,

Since you're booting from a DVD, the 5 minutes boot time seems reasonable. When you boot from this kind of support/device, a lot of things are loaded in the RAM itself. It also depends on the max speed provided by your disk reader.

Are you suggesting I boot from the ISO itself on disk? If so, I don't know how to do that.

I'm pretty sure it isn't doable...

Re: Win10PESE startup

Thanks for your reply.

Not sure I understand the relevance of  HDD speed. And anyway my disk boot times are OK. Also I don't have a WinXP ISO but a Windows XP system. And no VM is involved.

Maybe I wasn't clear.

I have a Windows XP system and two 8TB disk drives which XP doesn't support. To solve this problem I got the Win10PESE ISO from ToolsLib, burned it to DVD and booted from that DVD (w...

Re: Win10PESE startup

It all depends on the rig. HDD's are not known to be the fastest at boot times, especially if the system is Windows XP, quite a legacy system right now. Not really sure. If you PC specs are good, then you shouldn't have such long boot times, unless your HDD's are really slow. Did you notice anything else during the boot? Is your WinXP iso image clean? If you got it from a third party, I wouldn'...
