Re: Did AdwCleaner Remove Required Registry Files?

Thanks John! That is reassuring. Do you think you could check about the files for another computer of mine? I just want to be sure that the registry will be okay.

Is this a false positive?

on AdwCleaner by Nec

Hello, today after updating adwcleaner to the new version, has detected some PUPs (I leave you the registry of the scan and the cleaning). After reboot, I ran adwcleaner again and the PUPs are still there.

I have researched a bit about these addresses, and it seems that they are the default addresses that the router from my internet company provides. Each time I clean them, when I reconnect to...

Did AdwCleaner Remove Required Registry Files?

In hopes of making my two computers as safe as can be I went ahead and removed the various files that AdwCleaner detected in a scan. However, because I had issues with my computer's hardrive becoming corrupt recently, I'm worried that some of the registry files that were deleted might in fact be necessary ones. Can someone please let me know if this is the case? I've posted the content of the l...

Re: Win XP support

you can take it from here, But notice that its data base is outdated.

Re: False Positives V7

Yep, all fixed - thanks very much.  SpywareBlaster (SWB) updates its data base about every two weeks.  Can you tell me if the fix was such that it will no longer generally report SWBs preventative measures?  I fully accept that the odd false positive can happen but the quantity had become very high of late.

Re: False positive?

The following entry won't be detected anymore in the upcoming database update.

Re: False Positive v7?

Upon further investigation, this looks like malware's registry file that wasn't removed correctly, but the rest of the issue was

That seems rather unlikely, because the registery key was the only thing that was detected. To reiterate, before AdwCleaner's database update of August 25 my Adwcleaner scans (and other scans for that matter) were clean. In addition, other virusscanners weren't abl...

Adwcleaner freezes during removal of viruses.

Got 2 viruses and the AdwCleaner freezes  @20% during removal. Microsoft Security Essential and Malwarebytes does not detect these viruses.

Haw, can I remove it?

Re: False Positives V7

Is anyone from the AdwCleaner team able to comment about this yet?

SWBUser, 2017-08-29 20:09:30 (UTC)

It would be nice wouldn't it? I am solving this myself, by uninstalling AdwCleaner and not recommending it to those requesting help on a forum where I am a mod. Too bad, very good tool, one of the best for removing PUP's but not going to sacrifice SpywareBlaster's ability to block them so ...
