Have you tried uninstalling the app?
First, uninstall the app. Then reboot the PC. after that reinstall the app and update it.
If this doesn't solve the issue then raise a support ticket with the support centre and get the issue resolved.

I tried using AdwCleaner version 7.0.3.1, but every time it stopped working.
I already tried "Mode > Debug", "Database > Local", Uninstalled AdwCleaner and running it as admin.
I'm using Windows 10 Pro with Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2018 (no warnings from Bitdefender).

You should also be able to retrieve "lost" files from the Quarantine.

Still having problems with latest download.Scan continues to pickup pre-installed software from HP which I DO NOT WANT to remove. The v6 is probably using an outdated detection database.
