Re: False Positives V7

Yep, all fixed - thanks very much.  SpywareBlaster (SWB) updates its data base about every two weeks.  Can you tell me if the fix was such that it will no longer generally report SWBs preventative measures?  I fully accept that the odd false positive can happen but the quantity had become very high of late.

False positive?

Re: False Positives V7

Since V7 I've been getting false positives on all my machines - often ones reported by others.  I suspect they are down to using SypwareBlaster.  This is an old but quite safe program which puts kill bits in the registry to prevent undesireable stuff running.  I think it would be worth installing SpywareBlaster then "enabling all protection", then see what ADWCleaner makes of it.  Thanks.

False Positive v7?

Today I stumbled upon this detection whilst using Adwcleaner 7.0.1.0:

***** [ Registry ] *****

PUP.Optional.YahooChrome, [Key] - HKLM\SOFTWARE\Yahoo\SS

Afterwards I scanned with other virusscanners (Malwarebytes, MBAR, and Roguekiller) and none of them detected aforementioned registery key. Thus, it seems like a false positive generated by adwcleaner.

Can someone confirm this?

Kind regard...

Bonjour,

Pouvez-vous partager le rapport de debug?

  1. Vous le trouverez ici : C:\AdwCleaner\AdwCleaner_Debug.log
  2. Vous pouvez ensuite le mettre en ligne sur le site suivant : https://up2sha.re - Un glissé/déposé vers la zone "Drop files or click to upload" devrait fonctionner.
  3. Puis partagez le lien généré dans votre prochaine réponse.

Merci.

Re: More false positives

You know that, i know that, but a schoolstudent does not. As a servicedeskmanager i have been promoting adwcleaner for years on our schools but now it's causing confusion among collegues and other cliënts when adwcleaner is stating that there might be a problem or maybe something is a PUP while there isnt anything wrong. I understand there's a behavior pattern wich puts it in a categorie for ma...
