Dear Xplode!

I LOVE AdwCleaner it helps me a lot! I love that it first kills almost all processes in order to do a good job after. In older versions it terminated the TeamViewer applications process too but I noticed that now it trusts TV so it leavs it alone. This is great! As I understand there is a "whitelist" for apps that won't be terminated before a clean? If so I would like to propose a new addition to this list: Ammyy. Ammyy is just like TV: a legit remote admin app. It has a free version also I think a lot of people use it. Sometimes I user it instead of TV but now I can't run Adw through it because then I "close my self out" of the computer: without "local" user interaction I won't be able to get back in the computer after I click ADW Clean. Their website: http://www.ammyy.com/en/
What do you think? Thanks for your answer in advance and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! Thank you in the name of all the users of ADW!

love adwcleaner, but it doesn't recognize screenconnect as a legitimate program. it removed my ability to access the computer I was working on! can screenconnect be added to the allowed programs asap?

OK! Issue solved! I had knowingly installed the iSafe Key-logger on that computer. This is supposedly invisible to cleaners and registry. AdwCleaner removed the invisible iSafe folder but not its registry entries. That caused instability in the system, probably related to the specificity of the key-loggers. Restoring the iSafe folder from within the AdwCleaner Quarantine Manager solved the issue. No need to do anything in the registry. I hope this helps!

please read "with starting the scan" as "without starting the scan"! In the mean time I tried to do System Restore but that made the computer with even more problems, so I have to roll back to the state left by AdwCleaner.

@cocochepeau Hi, As, after AdwCleaner requested to restart the computer after scan and clean, I was not able to log in anymore into the standard account from where I ran AdwCleaner, Therefore I didn't get the report, but I guess it should still be somewhere on my computer. I ran again AdwCleaner but with starting the scan, just to see if it sees the report, but the Report button is grayed out. I downloaded several versions of AdwCleaner, so I may not ran the same version. I don't know if that matters. On the other hand, if I press uninstall (without actually starting the uninstall) I see the files from the quarantine, but not the changes made to the registry. For the files you may take a look at: http://1drv.ms/16uCsum

@cocochepeau

Here are most of the entries I could find. I believe the Hotspot Shield drivers might be the culprit. One user had a driver inside Device Manager. Replacing that driver with one from another working computer seems to have corrected the connection issue.

Folder Deleted : C:\ProgramData\hotspot shield

Folder Deleted : C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\hotspot shield

Folder Deleted : C:\Program Files (x86)\hotspot shield

Key Deleted : HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\hotspotshield

Key Deleted : HKCU\Software\anchorfree

Folder Found : C:\Users\Sid\AppData\Roaming\hotspot shield

I'm afraid I need to ask again. Seems my concern was overlooked. The problem can be seen on many computer help forums. Original message:

"AdwCleaner removes Hotspot Shield. However, many users have messed up their Internet connections in the process. If you're reading this, please see what you can do to correct the issue. Thanks"

I don't know why it's seeing Hotspot Shiled as adware. It's a legitimate application.

Thank you for fixing the issue, and for this very useful program.
