Successfully removed "www.mystartsearch.com" from Windows 8.1 x64 Notebook.
After I have tried all to me known procedures including Malwarebyte, Nod32 and other antivirus programs this was the only program that succeeded to remove adaware/virus "www.mystartsearch.com" from my notebook.

"Au fait, je trouve détestable que lors de mise à jour (nouvelle version) l'ancienne soit automatiquement supprimée du PC!!!!"

Message qui n'a pas plu et qui pourtant semble concerner passablement de monde.

Pour répondre à votre question: Avant de faire la mise à jour, mettez une copie du logiciel sur un autre disque ou une autre partition.

I never update my adwcleaner version automatically kicked from the app. I delete the app and I download the new version ONLY here. CNET or other site put their own spices with it that kicked all kind of security messages.

@rickghouse: I had the exact same error & avast blocked downloading this file from this site!
But having used this app in the past, I clicked on the "External Link" button (under the 'Download' button near top / right of this page, and tried downloading this from bleepingcomputer.com . . . success!! Hope this helps.

I downloaded Adwcleaner today from CNET
I got a warning it was out of date, and was directed to a link for the current version
I downloaded the new Adwcleaner and when I tried installing it,
"Avast Antivirus" gave me this warning:

The file was quarantined:

File Name: dwNRRc3h.exe.part
Virus Description: Win32:Malware-gen

The tasks "Rocket Updater" and "APSnotifierPP1"/"APSnotifierPP2" are already in the current database.
There isn't more I can say for now, sorry.

AdwCleaner is detecting some registry entries like i.e. "nico mak computing". Click on "clean" but the same entries keep returning over and over again. It does not delete these entries. Why?

Please add LogMeIn Rescue to the whitelist. The last few releases are kicking us out of our customer's computers before we can hit ok to do the cleaning.

Finally, with version 4.104, I get prompted to download the latest version, which has not been working since versions 4 and up have been released. Now updated to version 4.105.
