ActiveX detections are usual FP's. Try doing an additional scan with Malwarebytes to confirm that. But I am fairly certain that these should not be detected. According to the internet and research that I did, ActiveX sets guidelines for processes, it can be exploited to some degree, but Adwcleaner would have removed them if found.

Since V7 I've been getting false positives on all my machines - often ones reported by others.  I suspect they are down to using SypwareBlaster.  This is an old but quite safe program which puts kill bits in the registry to prevent undesireable stuff running.  I think it would be worth installing SpywareBlaster then "enabling all protection", then see what ADWCleaner makes of it.  Thanks.

May or may not be a Clean_DNS  problem but since the day of installing Clean_DNS the Windows\Start icon in bottom left of Win 10 screen is a mess, ie left clicking on it shows all options but lets you go/click no further on any of them. I burned the ISO yesterday to enable me to access two 8TB drives that I had just bought for my offline Windows XP system, and it worked perfectly.

However, I was concerned about how long it took from selecting DVD boot to seeing the desktop: 5 minutes 20 seconds!

Is there anything that can be done to reduce this to a reasonable level?

Glad the issues have been sorted out. For future reference, I recommend installing some form of Adblock, as not only that prevents malicious ad pop-ups but also some malicious websites as well. Additionally, you can check any link before clicking it using Virus Total or Scanurl. Good luck!
