Frequently when I have run adwcleaner after the reboot it takes very long for the user to login. After the login process Windows will give a notification "failed to connect to windows service". Can you tell me if it works when you click on "Options" -> "Use local database" then run a scan ? Prior to that, uninstall AdwCleaner.
If this works, I think it's a network issue when downloading the database from Toolslib's server.
