You should also be able to retrieve "lost" files from the Quarantine.

Still having problems with latest download.Scan continues to pickup pre-installed software from HP which I DO NOT WANT to remove.  The 1st time I did that it deleted an important self diagnostic product called HP Support Assistant.  It took me forever to reinstall and I'm not sure that it's complete.  I cannot afford to call HP for their assistance.

After new version runs it is not retained by system.  Old version still in place.

If the remove button isn't working, then it's the right manner yes. AdwCleaner is still portable even if it creates some files inside C:\AdwCleaner.

Keep in mind tho that the folder can contain Quarantined files that you won't be able to retrieve after removal. So I would still recommend keeping the C:\AdwCleaner folder.

Using the recovery boot tool and it came up perfectly, I went to the Drive that I needed to look at.  It indicated the directory or file was corrupted and I would like to know if there is any way to rebuild it.  I am trying to save pictures located on the HD for a friend as the PC (desktop) failed.  Any help would be appreciated.
