Re: AdwCleaner 7.0.0.0 XP SP3

Hello,

Yes, it required too much work to support 1.5% of users on deprecated OSes..

However according to some feedbacks it seems that it *may* run on Windows Vista. Feel free to test and share your results!

If you need an official support for those two OSes, please use MB3 instead.

Best regards,

Version 7 FPs (262 elements)

Version 6.047 finds nothing while version 7 finds 262 elements, mostly IE registry keys + one Firefox add-on.

Only new thing I installed recently is Adguard and it is set to work only with IE11. It is not running right now.

AdwCleaner 7.0.0.0 XP SP3

Latest version AdwCleaner 7.0.0.0 will not run on XP SP3 "Not a valid Win32 application".

EDIT:  OK so I have just read on Malwarebytes forum that XP and Vista are no longer supported, fair enough, but you may want to drop XP and Vista from the "Compatible with" list on this page? https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/

Re: ADWCleaner & Teamviewer

Never had issues that ADWCleaner would remove my TeamViewer. You sure it was that software? Maybe it was a fluke or a trojan pretending to be TeamViewer. You could try installing TV, doing a scan with anti-virus software, ADWCleaner and maybe some form of anti-malware on top of that, to confirm or deny your thoughts.

Re: ADWCleaner & Teamviewer

Run AdwCleaner, Tools > Options. Tick "Debug" in the mode section.

Then, do a scan, and a clean. Share the generated logfile from C:\AdwCleaner\AdwCleaner_Debug.log.

Re: Adw Cleaner compatible Windows XP sp3

rufus, I agree will all that you say. many users are probably unaware that the defs are NOT being updated.

I had hoped that someone could have looked at my debug log and said if the problem would be fixed or support for XP was being dropped. Will the new version support XP?

Re: After install Torch browser from the official page adwcleaner detects malware 18

Glad you solved the issue. Torch browser, unfortunately, is malware. It is what you would call Bundleware or PUP (Potentially unwanted program), usually bundled with other more used software as part to generate more file downloads and installs. In the future always select advanced or expert options when installing, usually, they are hidden after that one checkmark. Additionally, you can do regu...

Re: Adw Cleaner compatible Windows XP sp3

HillBilly I have been trying to get this problem fixed for months. 1 attempt to fix it failed a couple of months ago and I provided my log from 6.046 and have not heard anything since then.

As the program is written now there is no way of knowing there is a problem unless it is run in debug mode and the debug log is checked.

Re: Adw Cleaner compatible Windows XP sp3

Re: Can I remove these folders/keys safely with adware cleaner?

Greetings. I don't see a reason why you shouldn't be able to do so. It looks like all the files and registries are not part of natural Windows process. Adwcleaner rarely has false positives. It is good that you are extra careful with what you are removing and how it works, but you have no worries here.
