I have a new computer running Windows 10 64bit. I first tried to download and use AdwCleaner version 5.033 on Feb. 14 with the download from Bleepingcomputer The program would run but would not clean. When hitting the clean button the program would appear to begin to clean but then it would just close. No cleaning done, no log created. I was able to run the Uninstall. I tried again with brand new copy this time downloading from here. I had the very same results. So I uninstalled and quit trying.

Yesterday I tried again, this time with version 5.036 downloading from Bleepingcomputer This time when attempting to run the program would stop responding almost as soon as hitting the scan button. I waited 15 minutes...no response. I had to close the program via the Task Manager. I deleted the program as Uninstall also would not work. Tried three more copies, one more from Bleepingcomputer and two from here all with the same results, I help with malware removal at several forums and I now am very hesitant to have those requesting help use AdwCleaner if they are using Windows 10 and will not do so unless i am certain it will work. In recent months I have had two persons I was helping have problems using AdwCleaner on Windows 10. I chalked it up to interference from the malware, now I am not so sure that was the cause. I hate this because AdwCleaner has become one of my favorite tools to use. Any suggestions?

Re: Cannot get AdwCleaner to work on Windows 10 64bit

Hello,

Can you provide me with AdwCleaner's debug logfile ? Just run AdwCleaner, click on "Options" then "Activate debug mode".

Try running the scan. Even if it does not complete, you should have a file called "AdwCleaner_dbg_xxxx.txt" inside C:\AdwCleaner.

Please post its content in your next reply.

Moreover, do you have this issue only on W10 64b ? Did you try with other versions ?

Regards,

Re: Cannot get AdwCleaner to work on Windows 10 64bit

Hello, I downloaded a new copy from Bleepingcomputer and ran the program again this morning. During the run the progress slider stopped at approximately 1/4 of the away across with the wording, I believe, saying "searching for generic elements". It stayed that way for approximately 5 and one-half minutes and (not responding) showing across the top edge of the program. Suddenly the (not responding) message disappeared, the slider was empty and a box popped up that said "No malicious files found on the computer"

Here is the debug log:

Re: Cannot get AdwCleaner to work on Windows 10 64bit

Hello,

Looks like this is the same bug as on this topic ( in french ) : https://toolslib.net/forum/viewthread/2315-bug-avec-les-versions-5034-5035-5036-ne-finit-pas-le-scanne/

Can you try running this version of AdwCleaner : http://sd-1.archive-host.com/membres/up/17959594961240255/AdwCleaner.exe

If you don't have any issue with this version, your problem will be solved with v5.037 which will be online today and will fix this bug.

Regards,

Re: Cannot get AdwCleaner to work on Windows 10 64bit

You really need to start your own thread so that it will be seen.

Re: Cannot get AdwCleaner to work on Windows 10 64bit

now the tool is -buggy- with win 10 64bit

see:

https://toolslib.net/forum/viewthread/12568-vers-70/?p=3#!messageId-13159

still UNSOLVED

p060477, 2017-08-26 19:09:12 (UTC)

You are aware, I assume, that the buggy version is the BETA version, 7.0,2.0. The current  version 7.0.1.0 works perfectly well with Windows 10 64bit. Unless you are a BETA testor you should not be using TEST versions.

Re: Cannot get AdwCleaner to work on Windows 10 64bit

if you read carefully all my 3d linked you should know that the last NON buggy is the vers 6

upt to the new vers 7, also the last stable 7.0.1 one is BUGGY

for the quarantine behaviour

and for the events list behaviour

2 BIG BUGS not only showed and witness by my self but also from other users

cheers
