Re: Issue with Microsoft Edge

Hello,

Can you share the deletion report too ?

It's in C:\AdwCleaner\C:\AdwCleaner\AdwCleaner[Cxxxx].txt.

Also, can you generate a ZHPDiag logreport to get more informations on your system ?

  • Download ZHPDiag from Nicolas on his website
  • Then run it with administrator's rights (with right click)
  • Then upload the log file on up2share (you will find it on your desktop, just drop the file on th...

Re: smartnewtab.com

Hi,

Well, bad news.

As ZHPCleaner, ZHPDiag, ADWCleaner and MBAM don't find from where comes thoses pop-ups, we will have to remove it manually !

To do that, we will reset all the preferencies of Internet Explorer, and I can give you better explanation that what is explained on this microsoft description. With choising to Delete personal settings (step 5 of the tutorial).

Then please tell me...

Re: smartnewtab.com

Hello Chapi !

Celebrated to early - smartnewtab.com still opens occansionally in IE :-(

I ran a scan an hour ago with the newest versions of ZHPDiag and ZHPCleaner, both could only find the false positives which they also discovered the last days, logs are available if they are helpful for you.

Thank you again, Klaus

Re: False Positive? C:\ProgramData\mntemp

Although AdwCleaner detects mntemp as being a folder, it is actually an extensionless file. I don't see any other signs of SearchProtect on my PC. After the cleanup/reboot with AdwCleaner, the files are gone, but they are literally immediately recreated every time I launch Breakaway Audio Enhancer. I don't understand why SearchProtect would be linked to the launch of Breakaway. I really hope it...

Re: False Positive? C:\ProgramData\mntemp

Unfortunately, "mntemp" is related to SearchProtect, so it's not a false positive - you can delete these folders.

For information, this detection is present in the detections since mid-2015.

Best regards,

False Positive? C:\ProgramData\mntemp

AdwCleaner has found the following:

***** [ Folders ] *****

Folder Found : C:\ProgramData\mntemp

Folder Found : C:\ProgramData\Application Data\mntemp

-These appear during the startup of a program called Breakaway Audio Enhancer. I'm not sure if this is a FP or not. I've used Breakaway for a few years with no previous detections by AdwCleaner, but they have updated it for Windows 10 compati...

Re: Find but didn't remove MPC cleaner

Hi Leroy,

The AdwCleaner logfile shows us that MPC 's service is still present.

I'have already fought againt that service, and he is clearly well protected.

Actually, the best way to remove it, is to reinstall MPC completly, in order to uninstall it with it's own uninstall application.

The real problem here, is that some tools, like AdwCleaner, tries to remove it, but don't sucess completly...

Re: smartnewtab.com

Hi Klaus,

I will inform the developper of ZHPCleaner that the soft have some weird behaviour. Do you want any help to restore some files ? ZHPCleaner has got a quarantine :)

One question to MalwareBytes before installing it: I have MS Security Essentials installed, won't there be a problem defending one another (and making the PC nearly unuseable) when both are active ? I experienced t...
