I had the same problem, what I did was delete the old version and then re-downloaded from the link above. When you get the verse above window saying it is out of date cancel that. Then you need to look in when finished scanning before you start cleaning. On click the first pup, then you need to let it clean. I hope this will help you.

Oh! As your advice, I did it, and AdwCleaner worked OK. Thank you very much, Mr.Developer!  (I don't know how to share the file "AdwCleaner_Debug.log" to Forum). Sorry.
