Pretty much a great option. The problem is, even with anti-virus or anti-malware on phones, it still is not enough as phones are more complicated to detect issues on.

Although I'm currently not using MalwareBytes on my Android devices, I have used this app on Android in the past. And I like it very much for its simplicity. It does, as the name suggests, take care of malware. No silly optimizers or other useless add-ons.

PUP is usually named a Potentially Unwanted Program. It doesn't always have to be malware or malicious software. It's not a browser hijack, it's the search-engine setting that AdwCleaner set after removing a malicious one. This will be back to google.com by default, with a dropdown in the Options UI to choose between seevral search engines.

The support for Windows XP has been dropped, following Microsoft decision to deprecate Windows Vista last April.

I encourage you to use MB3 (including the free version) which is still working on Windows XP.
