Hello, For the past month, each time I use adwcleaner, I get what look like identical threats. All in this directory: C:\Users\ME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default. Why is this happening? Thanks, Steve
All in the file called: Web Data.
Greetings,
Can you share the full scan and clean logfiles please?
Regards,
Thank you. How do I do that?
Hello,
You can get them from C:\AdwCleaner\AdwCleanerC[xx].txt and C:\AdwCleaner\AdwCleanerS[xx].txt
Please host them on https://up2sha.re/ and copy/paste the generated links here.
Best regards,
The problem is still occuring, so I uploaded 2 files to: https://up2sha.re/file?f=TbaaVEQYo0Zs and https://up2sha.re/file?f=vMLzToATtjja. Basically, what happens, is that I use browsers (chrome or firefox) for maybe 15 minutes, then my computer grinds to a halt. CPU near 100%. then I run adwcleaner, always see some of the same threats, it reboots the machine, which then run quickly. the threats are always in: C:\Users\se\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Web data. And contain names such as aol.com or various things that end in softonic.com. It would be great to figure out how to remove these once and for all or understand why they reoccur and Do they appear under windows 7 processes, somehow?
Thank you!
any ideas?
Sorry for the delay.
Can you stop the Chrome synchronization, and then retry with AdwCleaner?

I used chrome canary for a while and the problem seemed to stop. I am now trying the regular chrome again, and the problem is really back. I have tried to follow google's instructions above but find them opaque and hard to understand. All, I know is that the problem is back. Maybe I should try canary again?
If you confirm that uninstalling/reinstall Chrome stable doesn't fix the issue, it's likely that the Chrome synchronization must be stopped in order to fully clean the browser. Unfortunately, there's no automatic step that can be done for that..
Will synchronization be stopped when the chrome browser is not open?
No, you need to manually disable it from your Google account, following the link above.
Ah. It appears to be my son's account and an artifact of when he must have used my laptop. So this may not be so easy to turn off. Maybe he will know how.
Ok. Just follow these instructions and you should succeed: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/1181420?hl=en
See, I don't have a chrome account, my son does, he is not here, la, la, la; eventually he will come home.
