Same problem and same message : "*** Caught unhandled unknown exception, terminating."
Activating Debug from Tools menu does not solve anything.
I cannot even close the message of error, the close button is grey, so I have to close adwcleaner via Task Manager.
I had the same problem, what I did was delete the old version and then re-downloaded from the link above. When you get the verse above window saying it is out of date cancel that. Then you need to look in when finished scanning before you start cleaning. On click the first pup, then you need to let it clean. I hope this will help you.
Does not work! It stops / freezes with the same pop up window saying "caught". I tried the older version immediately after and it worked fine. Then went back and tried the newest version again....but it failed agan.

I did the same with my second machine with WIN 8.1. The same problem, the same error message. Atgtached pls find the content of the debug log file.

i used both, 7.0.0.0 & 7.0.1.0 and always the same popup

just to let you know that yr latest 7.0.1 stable vers DID not fix theese issues at all..
why..??
and more over has another bug: it says that you are not using the latest vers..??..but when it ask you to dl the latest vers it dl the same 7.0.1..!!!..
..so strange..its the real first time it happens..

...I have a doubt, if I run the program while being connected to the internet, it does not give me any detections, but if I run it without an internet connection, it recalls 260 detections, the same ones that the author of the post points out.
I too have this same exact occurrence & have started a new thread on bleepingcomputer.com (BC) titled: "Strange PC behavior W/ adwcleaner_7.0.0.0.exe"
