Greetings,
AdwCleaner v7 no longer supports Windows XP. You can try to use the previous major version (v6) by following this link: https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/files/851/
Please note that it's 10 months old and is no longer updated.
Also, feel free to try out Malwarebytes 3.0 (it is compatible with XP): https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/309-malwarebytes/...
using latest version 13/03/18

Oh, snap! I have been using it for 7-10 years already and only now I found out it doesn't have English translashion (Turkish, Ukraine, Russia and Belarus only).
Here is a link for portable version http://download.downloadmaster.ru/dm/Download_Master_Portable.zip
But I ask to hold out until I suggest developer to create an English translation for it.
That’s not necessary. AdwCleaner does not “install” anything more than what I listed above. Hence why you don’t ever need to go to add/remove programs on the Windows Control Panel in order to “uninstall” the software.
To be more precise, the AdwCleaner executable is portable. It just creates an extra folder at the following location C:\AdwCleaner.
This still leaves windows thinking it is installed and eventually leads to trouble in add/remove programs and leftover registry entries. What is needed in an uninstall/cleanup program from Malwarebytes.
Just ran it again this morning and it still fails. I did not do a dump, but it looks like it stopped in the same area.

Hello,
Since Malwarebytes handles AdwCleaner go here to get a reliable download https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/?ref=adw
there are no PUP's related to this download. Have a great day!
Here is the one from the session that ran right after it installed correctly. AdwCleaner doesn't seem to like Wise and Auslogics applications; it found them and quarantined them, which is fine. Now, the issue with AdwCleaner not installing was occuring before Wise or Auslogics apps were installed.

Cordialement.
