Can you please make a working winXP version, or at least leave last working version easily accesible?

There are a lot of customers who still use XP specially in the third world where upgrades are not so cheap, and they refuse to update whats working.

Re: Win XP support

Hello,

you can take it from here, But notice that its data base is outdated.

Re: Win XP support

I am not sure, but I think there is a library of legacy Adwcleaner installations for older software if the new ones do not work. I just looked at compatibilities for the newest version, it appears that it should work with WinXP. What issues are you experiencing?

Also avoid the link above, not only it is Russian, but also illegitimate.

Edit: Interestingly enough it isn't. Not sure where I looked at, but this answer is no longer valid. My apologies.

Re: Win XP support

Let me disagree with you :)

Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 in 32 & 64 bits.

This is written at download page. So XP is not supported. And please look at this link - https://toolslib.net/forum/viewthread/3789-ru-dokumentaciya-adwcleaner/ So you can see that in spite of Russian language - site I gave in previous message is quite legitimate and it in accordance with fr33tux at last.

That's right.

AdwCleaner is no longer compatible with Windows XP. As linked above, you may still be able to run the 6th branch of AdwCleaner (https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/files/?s=6&t=release) on XP.

I emphasise on the fact that if your operating system (XP) is infected with an Adware/PUP, AdwCleaner may be able to remediate it, but it will only provide you with a false sense of security since Windows XP is no longer receiving updates from Microsoft (even security fixes).

If you're stuck with it and cannot migrate to a more recent version of Windows (7, 8.1 or 10), I invite you to try Malwarebytes 3.

Regards.

Re: Win XP support

I disagree for no support for xp because i have 2 computer (one on xp and 1 with seven) but on xp pos ready i have update until 2019 ( i write this answer on xp) so why stopping support for adwcleaner now ?

Hello,

About Windows XP, please check the  following link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsforbusiness/end-of-xp-support

Re: Win XP support

What this link is about? You're not working on Microsoft, don't you? Even MBAM supports XP along with other popular anti-viruses and tools.

There is a possibility to realize an XP support in current version. I wrote back in August to fr33tux and sent him screens with explanations on how to add XP support to your project. So for now it seems like a MBAM PR action that you don't want to realize such support (though you can).

Yes.

It's not a question of technical difficulty, it's a choice to not support an OS no longer supported with security updates by its editor. I've already explained that if a machine with XP is infected by an adware of some sort, the box is likely infected with something much more nasty that AdwCleaner cannot remove.

Our stand is that if ever you still have to use XP for whatever reason, you need protection and not remediation. That's why MB3 still supports XP, but AdwCleaner doesn't.

Thanks,

Re: Win XP support

I already answered that AdwCleaner is intended only to clean adware and nothing more independently what system is infected – XP or newer. To do more with curing - there are many other tools like AVZ (or other from Autologger pack), FRST etc. So it is inappropriately to say that AdwCleaner not support XP because it couldn’t cure more than simply adware in it. And statistics say that exactly adware is most popular type of infection now.

Re: Win XP support

Signed in just to show support for all the windows embedded POSReady systems based on XP out there, which are still being updated until april 2019.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/search?alpha=windows%20embedded%20posready%202009

Why is that every single person thinks that if there is an old working machine somewhere it should be definitely full of viruses? That's really annoying. I use ADWCleaner tool (which is awesome btw) to quickly separate hardware and software perfomance issues (if any) on a quite big amount of machines from socket 370 motherboards up to machines with M.2 SSD drives running windows 10. Diversity in its finest.

Re: Win XP support

please add winxp support! thank u!
